Dulquer Salmaan is an Indian actor, singer and businessman working mainly in Malayalam’s cinema. He is known in the Malayalam Movie “Charlie” (2015) for roleplaying of the ‘Charlie.’ He is the son of Mammootty, the famous actor and filmmaker.

His name comes from two warriors. The son was so intrigued by the warriors as a scholar of Islamic history that he merged the titles of two warriors and kept the name of Dulquer. His title was often referred to as Alexander, The Great.
He studied at Kochi’s Toc-H Public School and Sishya College at Chennai. He completed a Bachelor of Business Management (BBM) degree at Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana, USA. Since his youth, Dulquer has been inclined to direct. When he was 14-15 years old, he used to make short films.
He also took the camera from his father and played with it. He served as a Business Manager at a prominent U.S. company after completing his graduation. He then did a business related to I.T. in Dubai. Dulquer then enrolled for three months at the Barry John Acting Studio in Mumbai.

Dulquer Salmaan is a Muslim family member. His father is a famous Indian actor and filmmaker, Muhammad Kutty Paniparambil Ismail aka Mammootty. His mother is a homemaker, Sulfath Kutty. He has Kutty Surumi, an elder sister.
On December 22, 2011, Dulquer married Amal Sufiya, an artist, in an arranged marriage. The couple’s got a daughter, Maryam, born on May 5, 2017.

Dulquer Salmaan made his acting debut in 2012 with the “Second Show” of Malayalam, in which he played Harilal’s “Lalu” role.” He was awarded the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut.
After ABCD’s commercial success: American-Born Confused Desi and Neelakasham Pachakadal Chuvanna Bhoomi, Dulquer entered the Tamil film industry. With the romantic comedy “Vaayai Moodi Pesavum,” he made his Tamil film debut.
He appeared in 2014 in the romantic drama “Bangalore Days,” one of Malayalam’s biggest films. In Tamil commercial success “O Kadhal Kanmani” Salmaan appeared the following year. He subsequently played the title role in the “Charlie” romantic drama and received critical acclaim. The film won him the Best Actor Kerala State Film Award.
In 2018, Dulquer made his Bollywood debut by playing in the road movie “Karwan,” playing Avinash’s role in the movie. In 2019, he was featured opposite Sonam Kapoor in the Bollywood film “The Zoya Factor”.
Besides being an actor, he is also a singer and has sung various songs from the Malayalam film ABCD: American-Born Confused Desi (2013), such as Johnny Mone Johnny.
Dulquer is also a philanthropist and has engaged in many programs of social service. He has acted in the short film based on the safe riding project of Kerala Motor Vehicle Department. He also participated in the Chennai Gives project and donated 150 items including clothes, footwear, books, school supplies and crockery.
